German Show Jumping and Dressage Derby

Hamburg – This year’s 87th German show jumping and dressage derby, presented by J.J. Darboven, was simply sensational. It took place from 4 - 8 May and these five days of top-class equestrian sport, coupled with perfect weather, attracted more audience members than ever before.
This classic tournament in Klein Flottbek has always been a major attraction, but this year saw a bigger media resonance and audience than ever before. The ARD broadcasting of the German show jumping derby, a special stage of the DKB-Riders Tour, made it into the audience ratings’ Top Ten of the day.
Volker Wulff, Managing Director of the organising agency EN GARDE Marketing GmbH, was more than satisfied: “I am very proud of the fact that the German show jumping and dressage derby did not only attract more than 90,000 visitors to the Derby Park, but was also viewed on television by 1.11 million people, which is why we made it into the ARD’s Top Ten of the day. This is such a fantastic success.” Thus, the German show jumping derby is on the same level as last year’s Equestrian European Championship, which took place in Aachen and achieved the same result regarding the team competition. Only the individual competition attracted more viewers (around 1.5 million).
